ABOUT
Hannah and Jorgen Club is the art etc. collective of Jorgen Doyle and Hannah Ekin. Our work together deals with the politics and poetics of land use, involving extended periods of research into specific social, environmental, and political contexts. we live and work between Jakarta, Indonesia and Alice Springs, Australia. In Jakarta we sit within a broad coalition of social movements, NGOs, artists, researchers, architects, journalists etc., concerned with the radical changes occurring along Jakarta's coastline - speculative real estate projects and large scale infrastructural projects responding to slower environmental degradation caused by heavy exploitation of the natural environment of the coastal basin to support the capital's development. Their recent work examines how collective imaginings and popular desires for particular urban futures (being “world class”) are rehearsed and constructed and the way aesthetic technologies (architectural renderings, models etc) are used to present the speculative, disaster-capitalist transformation of Jakarta Bay as a compelling vision of the future.
