This public noticeboard is intended as a space to present alternative histories and narratives, personal or critical, in a town saturated with official representations of history and interpretations of space. By installing this noticeboard out the front of Watch this Space’s new, main road premises, we hoped to create a space where an incidental public of pedestrians on their way to the hospital across the road or the hotel next store could engage with a less predictable, less stagnant kind of ‘news’. The notice works as a residency space, with a different curator pasting up the ideas, stories, images or questions they think are most urgently needed every six weeks before passing it on to a person of their choice.
